Individual Services

Sail works with graduating seniors and families to support the transition form high school to college. We understand that this transition can be difficult for a number of reasons, including living away from home, suddenly needing to manage time, study, friends, and finances independently. We honor the shifts in academic format and lifestyle changes. We are dedicated to working with graduating high school seniors to explore and further develop the study skills and habits necessary to master this new and exciting learning environment.

Sail works with undergraduate and graduate students, from all over the world, who are looking to increase their efficiency and effectiveness in their academic setting. Our sessions are student driven with the ultimate goal of developing sustaining strategies that foster growth and independence. Sail uses an asset-based approach to target areas of weakness and develop highly individualized compensatory strategies that can be directly applied to their academic environment (both inside and outside of the classroom setting). When a compensatory strategy is presented, it is modeled, and then a plan is created to support its implementation.

The strategies are customized to meet the individual needs of the student, but some general areas of work include: time & workload management reflective listening, note-taking, procrastination, reading comprehension, test taking & study skills, self-advocacy and self-awareness, writing skills, high stakes test prep (BAR, GRE, MCAT, Nursing Boards, PA boards, Dental etc.)
